Cloud Architect (all genders)

You develop target cloud architectures for customers with different applications, security requirements and operating models. Public cloud, European platforms and hybrid environments are assessed according to the task. You connect architecture with a realistic migration and an operable outcome.

A migration also affects identities, networks and operational responsibility. You design separated environments, roles and central logging. Workloads are grouped into migration waves based on their dependencies. Hybrid transitions require tested DNS and network paths as well as rollback options. Decisions on availability, data location and costs are justified by requirements and alternatives and explained clearly to the customer.

• Assess existing environments and requirements; evaluate workloads according to dependencies, criticality and migration readiness.
• Design landing zones, network structure, identity, logging and governance as a coherent architecture.
• Compare provider and hybrid options against technical, organisational and commercial requirements.
• Plan migration waves, operational handover and recovery and provide technical support during implementation.
• Document dependencies and transitional networks for migration waves with acceptance criteria.
• Design operating models for identity, backup, recovery and platform changes.

What matters is demonstrable experience that is relevant to the role. It may come from appropriate vocational training, a degree, professional practice or a well-founded career change. We will align the specific level of responsibility with your knowledge and experience.

• Experience with cloud architectures and integrating existing IT landscapes.
• Strong foundations in networking, identity, availability and infrastructure as code.
• Ability to make risks and architecture decisions transparent to customers and implementation teams.

This knowledge is helpful, but you do not need to have all of it at once. In your application, describe where you have already gained practical experience and which areas you would like to explore in greater depth.

• Experience with multi-cloud environments or replacing established data-centre environments.
• Knowledge of governance, cost management or regulated customer environments.

Your plan shows how each system will reach the target environment and how operations will work afterwards. Costs, security and rollback options are considered together with the technical architecture.

This role can be based in Cologne or performed remotely. We will agree the specific form of collaboration, project requirements and any necessary customer appointments before you start.

This role is offered as permanent employment on a full-time or part-time basis. We will agree the responsibilities, working hours, start date and compensation to suit the role and your level of experience.
