Not every connection needs the same architecture
An immediate lookup, a nightly data reconciliation and the distribution of business events each have different requirements. We choose between API, file, middleware and event-based processing based on timeliness, data volume and business feedback. Existing products and constraints are taken into account.
API management creates controlled access; integration platforms coordinate recurring connections. For legacy systems, adapters encapsulate historical formats and limited access options. We consider splitting into microservices only where business ownership and independent changes promise real benefit.
