Cloud Operations Engineer (all genders)

You keep cloud environments reliable in day-to-day operations and ensure that problems are not only resolved but handled transparently. You combine monitoring, incident analysis and automation. Recurring manual work is reduced systematically without losing control over critical changes.

An alert must point to concrete actions. You use metrics and logs to distinguish network, identity and application problems. Runbooks describe responsibilities and escalation paths. Restore exercises show whether backups are complete and required access is available. After an incident, the cause and follow-up actions are recorded so that the same issue does not continue to require manual handling.

• Monitor cloud resources and applications and maintain meaningful alerts with clear responsibilities.
• Narrow down incidents, coordinate measures and document causes and follow-up actions.
• Provide technical support for patching, backup and recovery processes and test their effectiveness.
• Automate routine tasks and transfer changes into operations through documented procedures.
• Create runbooks with measurement points, action limits and escalation paths.
• Carry out restore tests and maintenance and use the results to improve monitoring and automation.

What matters is demonstrable experience that is relevant to the role. It may come from appropriate vocational training, a degree, professional practice or a well-founded career change. We will align the specific level of responsibility with your knowledge and experience.

• Experience in IT or cloud operations and systematic troubleshooting.
• Understanding of monitoring, networking, operating systems and access management.
• Ability to communicate clearly under time pressure and document technical decisions.

This knowledge is helpful, but you do not need to have all of it at once. In your application, describe where you have already gained practical experience and which areas you would like to explore in greater depth.

• Experience with scripting, IaC or incident-management processes.
• Knowledge of SLOs, capacity planning or cloud cost control.

You improve the transparency and stability of operations. The scope and organisation of any on-call duties will be agreed separately before collaboration begins; the role does not require blanket round-the-clock availability.

This role can be based in Cologne or performed remotely. We will agree the specific form of collaboration, project requirements and any necessary customer appointments before you start.

This role is offered as permanent employment on a full-time or part-time basis. We will agree the responsibilities, working hours, start date and compensation to suit the role and your level of experience.
